About this tea

What sets it apart from a chai

The spice list looks similar, but the orange peel changes it entirely. Where a chai is warm and rounded, this is warm and bright — the citrus cuts through the clove and pepper and keeps it from getting heavy. The black pepper is crushed rather than whole, so the heat arrives earlier and lingers longer.

Brewing

One heaped teaspoon per cup, water at a full boil.
Steep 4–5 minutes. This blend rewards a longer steep than a plain black tea — the citrus peel needs the time.
Good with a little honey. Less good with milk, which flattens the orange.

When to drink it

A morning tea, or an afternoon one when you want something with presence. It also makes a good iced tea: brew it double strength, cool it, and pour over ice with a slice of orange.
