Black Cat Teapot Set – Travel Pack

The Maneki-neko — the beckoning cat you see in shop windows with one paw raised — has been a Japanese good-fortune figure since the Edo period. The raised paw is an invitation rather than a wave. It is the reason this set gets bought as a gift far more often than as a self-purchase.

Novelty teapots are often worse teapots: awkward spouts, no infuser, walls too thin to hold heat. This is the same glazed ceramic body as the plain sets in the range, with the same brewing behaviour. The character is in the glaze and the moulding, not a compromise in how it pours.

The cups stack and the case is fitted, so the set packs down small enough for a desk drawer or an overnight bag. Let everything dry completely before closing the case.

Hand wash only. Warm the pot with hot water before brewing rather than filling a cold pot from a boiling kettle.

Ceramic. Compact teapot with two stackable cups and a travel case.
